A decade of caring for bees in the Borabu highlands.
BORABU GOLDEN DROPS is a private beekeeping business run by Isaac Barongo in Borabu sub county, Nyamira County. What started with a single traditional log hive has grown into a professional apiary of over 120 modern Langstroth hives.
The apiary sits among natural forests and indigenous trees that provide the bees with rich, chemical-free forage throughout the seasons. We believe honey should taste the way nature intended: raw, aromatic, and unadulterated.

How we built the apiary — step by step.

Siting the apiary
We chose Borabu for its cool highland climate, clean rivers, and natural forests with indigenous trees — ideal conditions for strong, healthy colonies.

Planting the forage
Sunflowers are planted as a booster of forage, while the surrounding natural forest and indigenous trees provide the bees with a rich, chemical-free nectar source.

Building the hives
Kenya Top Bar and Langstroth hives are painted, baited and stacked in shaded rows to protect colonies from harsh weather.

Harvest & pack
Combs are hand-cut, gravity-strained and packed raw. Harvesting is done professionally and packed to keep the honey as the bees made it.
